My great great grandfather's name was James
"Say my name say my name" sang Destiny's Child in the 90's single by the same name.
What a stupid lyric I thought at the time. Years have passed since the popularity of the song rose across the air waves and there have been many times that I have seen the value of this phrase. Yesterday however seemed to be the pinnacle of these times when I signed into my ancestry account and found the name of my great-great grandfather.
James Fox born in 1812 left Ireland and sailed across the Atlantic Ocean to make a new home for his family in the United States and there was something in knowing this that made me feel a little more real - bonafide even. I am saying your name great-great Grandpa.
